We're taking the risk!
We're taking control of our destiny!
We want to be our own boss!
All these reasons are exactly why you wanted to be an entrepreneur, right?
Most wish they were that kind of person. They want to be able to forget working for somebody, to work for themselves. They dream to have the courage of an entrepreneur.
Not everyone is built this way, of course. Not everyone is capable of taking the risk to become a person capable of stepping out from the norm. Some are built to follow, others born to lead. No matter what stage you're at, you're here. You're doing it. Passionate entrepreneurs are driven to make a serious go of any business they conceive.
No one wants to fail when you start your own business, of course. And you won't! You're an entrepreneur. Failure is never an option. Nope. Not. An. Option. Whatever the business you're building, it's your baby so you'll take good care of it.
From Shark Tank to Dragon's Den, there is no end to the entrepreneurs striving to make their mark in the world. So, what makes you different?
Nothing. You're no different. Love what you do, have both time and patience and the willingness to roller-coaster the invariable ups and downs that new businesses deal with daily, and you'll find your way. Learn from the experience. Become better each day and every way.
Here are ten moments every entrepreneur knows well.
Why are you doing this? Are you strong enough? Do you have the skills? Are you passionate enough about your ideas? People are depending on you. Consequently, you're depending on people. Self-doubt is a daily battle.
Inevitable lows, screw ups, lost deals. As cliche as it is, anything worth having takes work. We await that moment that all the hard work and late nights pay off. It will be a justification. An "I told you so" to all the naysayers. That day did not arrive today!
This new venture will leave you completely drained at times. It's fun to create vision and strategy. Yet, this venture requires enough "worker bee" mode to choke a horse. All too humbling ... all too humbling.
4. SHEET DANCING
The moment that late night "sheet dancing" has taken on new meaning. It used to mean a late night with a spouse. It now represents stress and sleepless nights of frustration.
5. BLAZE YOUR OWN TRAIL
You wouldn't be an entrepreneur if you didn't suspect that charting your own course meant true happiness. You don't answer to others. Others aren't in charge of you, no. You are. You and you alone.
6. THE HIGHS
Along this path, you've also experienced incredible highs. They don't come often so take a moment for a happy dance. Don't fall into the trap of believing you should have been here a year ago. You've done the hard work, and if you do not pat yourself on the back few will.
7. LOW G.A.F.
Gone are the days you panic over items others deem important. Focus and priority are the primary tools in your toolbox. Some items get the attention some receive a "low give a f#@k" factor.
8. SORRY ... MOSTLY
You've matured, you've grown. There was a personal toll or self-guilt experienced when screwing up. Now you can separate and remove yourself .... "I'm not a loser, I just screwed up. It's not the first time, nor is it the last time." The only classy action left is a confident sorry.
9. THE BIG DEAL
That big deal is landed. It may not be the biggest deal in history, but that hard work has paid off. Rejoice in the mutterings of your friends. "How did he afford that car?" "I wish."
Don't throw your shoulder out patting yourself on the back though. There's always a humbling fire around every corner.
10. THE WORLD IS YOURS
Opportunity was knocking and you've answered. You're an entrepreneur armed with positive thinking. You've surrounded yourself with great people. You have a great dream and the capacity to make anything happen. Get it done.
